3-star cornerback Elijah Mc-Cantos commits to Illinois
Three-star Miami (Fla.) Edison cornerback Elijah Mc-Cantos has committed to Illinois, he announced Tuesday afternoon.
Mc-Cantos is the No. 626 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 57 cornerback and the No. 89 prospect in Florida.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder committed to the Fighting Illini over offers from Washington State, Kansas, West Virginia and others. He took official visits to both Washington State and Illinois this fall, as well as an unofficial visit to Miami.
As a senior, he has totaled 36 tackles and two pass breakups in eight games for Edison.
Mc-Cantos is Illinois’ 19th commitment in the 2022 recruiting class, and becomes the Bret Bielema and Co’s second-highest ranked commit in this cycle. The Illini have the nation’s No. 55 class, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
