Three-Star SF Tyler Johnson commits to Virginia Tech
Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge three-star small forward Tyler Johnson has announced his commitment to Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound rising senior chose the Hokies over offers from Texas Tech, Illinois, Clemson, UCF, Florida Atlantic, and others.
He becomes the first prospect in the 2024 cycle to commit to Mike Young.
Johnson spoke to On3 about his decision to choose Virginia Tech.
“Me and my family felt like this was the best option for me academically and to develop my game to get for the next level,” he said.

He has a message for the fanbase.
“I’m ready to go out there hoop and win with coach Young and the guys. Most definitely can’t wait to play in front of Hokie Nation!”
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Johnson is the No. 245 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 56 small forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
