Atlanta Falcons sign veteran WR James Washington
The Atlanta Falcons have signed veteran receiver James Washington, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Monday.
Washington, 28, last suited up in an NFL game in the 2022 season with the Dallas Cowboys. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the last two of which he was coached by Ike Hilliard, who is now Atlanta’s receivers coach.
A 2018 second round pick out of Oklahoma State, Washington appeared in 60 games (25 starts) for the Steelers. He hauled in 114 receptions for 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns. His best season came in 2019 when he came down with 44 catches for 735 yards and three scores.

Following his release from the Cowboys, Washington had short stints with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts in 2023.
He now heads to Atlanta and to a receiver room that is wide open. Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Rondale Moore aside, the Falcons have Ray-Ray McCloud and KhaDarel Hodge among others competing for roster spots.
