New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis arrested for trespassing
Police arrested Dion Lewis, who was part of two Patriots Super Bowl teams, on Monday in Florida.
TMZ broke the news, saying that Lewis faces misdemeanor trespassing charges. Police records in Hillsborough County indicated Lewis was booked at 3:12 p.m. on Monday. He was released eight hours later on $500 bond.
TMZ reported that police arrested Lewis at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Witnesses said Lewis had been unruly and belligerent. A police department spokesman told TMZ that Lewis was accused of “causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the premises.”
The Eagles drafted Dion Lewis in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The Cleveland Browns traded for him in 2013. But the Browns waived him. He then bounced to the Colts and ended up with the Patriots.

His finest moment in the NFL was in a playoff game against the Texans in January 2017. That’s when he scored touchdowns via the run, reception and kick return. No other player in the Super Bowl era had accomplished this feat. The Patriots won the Super Bowl that year, coming back to stun the Falcons. Lewis also played for New England the next season. The Patriots reached the Super Bowl, but lost to the Eagles.
After the Patriots, Lewis played for the Titans and Giants. He retired in 2021.
Lewis grew up in the Albany, N.Y. area. Earlier this year, the University of Albany hired Lewis as an assistant running backs coach. However, by July, he no longer was with the football team.
