Jonah Tavai comes from a family of football players. Four of his brothers played college football. Jordan played the defensive line at Kansas. J.R. played linebacker at USC and then played for the Tennessee Titans and in the Canadian football League. Jahlani played at Hawaii and is now a linebacker for the New England Patriots. Justus was at Hawaii for four years and is now Jonah’s teammate with San Diego State. Jonah played one year at El Camino College before moving on to San Diego State. He was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit. As a senior in 2022, Tavai earned All-American honors from The Action Network. He is the son of William and Nafanva Tavai. He has a younger brother named Jagger who is in high school. Tavai is majoring in business administration.
