2026 QB Michael Mitchell Jr. commits to Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt has landed its first commitment of the 2026 recruiting class.
San Francisco Archbishop Riordan three-star junior quarterback Michael Mitchell Jr. announced his commitment to the Commodores today on social media.
Mitchell is the nation’s No. 376 overall prospect, No. 29 quarterback and No. 39 recruit from California in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Mitchell had previously taken visits to California, USC, Ole Miss and UCLA.

Vanderbilt is still working on building up its 2025 recruiting class with under three months to go until the early signing period in December. Nine prospects are currently committed to the Commodores, and the class ranks No. 76 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Chattanooga (Tenn.) McCallie School four-star safety Carson Lawrence is the highest-rated recruit and lone blue-chip in Vanderbilt’s 2025 class.
