Miami flips LB Justin Edwards from Rutgers: ”The coaching staff, the players, environment"
Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater linebacker Justin JJ Edwards has flipped his commitment from Rutgers to Miami.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Edwards becomes commit No. 14 for Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes, adding to a class that the On3 Industry ranked No. 9 nationally.
”The coaching staff, the players, environment you know I’m a Florida boy so it feels like home,” Edwards said. “What made me want to commit was how well I fit into the scheme, and when we were at Coach Cristobal’s house that’s when I really felt like this is home. Also how much I bonded with the players too.”
The On3 Industry tabs Edwards as the nation’s No. 53 linebacker. He’s a plus athlete at the position with terrific length, speed and explosive ability.

On film Edwards is a three-down linebacker prospect, a twitchy physical player that thumps against the run and is smooth and fluid in coverage.
Edwards visited Coral Gables last weekend and continued to strengthen his bond with Corey Hetherman and the Miami coaching staff. He believes the Miami culture is the best fit for him under Cristobal and company.
