On3 4-star LB Austin Howard decommits from Mississippi State
Memphis (Tenn.) Bartlett four-star linebacker Austin Howard has decommitted from Mississippi State, he announced on Tuesday morning.
He had been committed to the Bulldogs since June, when he chose them over Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.
“I would like to Thank Mississippi State and their entire staff for welcoming me into there family and all they have done for me,” he wrote on Twitter. “But after discussing with my family we have decided it would be in my best interest to decommit from Mississippi State.”
The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is the No. 541 overall prospect and No. 59 LB in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3, however, is much higher on him than the other services. In the most recent rankings update, he was tabbed as a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 31 linebacker — just outside the On300.
Howard took an official visit to Tennessee over the weekend and has already been at games at both Ole Miss and Vanderbilt this fall.
