Gators DL transfer D'antre Robinson commits to North Carolina
Former Florida defensive lineman D’antre Robinson has found a new home. The Orlando native committed to North Carolina on Saturday following a visit to Chapel Hill earlier this week.
Robinson, who signed with Florida as part of the Gators’ 2024 recruiting class, spent just one season in Gainesville before entering the transfer portal earlier this month. He appeared in limited action during his freshman year and will now look for a fresh start with the Tar Heels, atlhough he was expected to take on an expanded role with the Gators in 2025.
A former 4-star prospect out of Jones High, Robinson was considered one of Florida’s top defensive line recruits in his class. At 6-foot-4, 315 pounds, he brought size and strength to the Gators’ interior, but depth and competition along the defensive line made it difficult for him to carve out a major role early.

Once in the portal, Robinson drew interest from several programs before visiting North Carolina this week. After seeing what the Tar Heels had to offer, he decided to shut everything down.
Florida’s coaching staff has been active in the portal as well this offseason, both in adding new players and managing departures like Robinson’s. Though the Gators would have liked to see his development continue in Gainesville, the staff is moving forward with several other young players expected to step up.
