Tre'Vez Johnson becomes the sixth DB — and first starter — to transfer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Tre’Vez Johnson has announced he is entering the portal, becoming the second Florida Gators defensive back to transfer out on Friday.

UF cornerback Jordan Young revealed his decision earlier in the day.

“I’m entering the transfer portal thank you UF,” Tre’Vez Johnson wrote on his Twitter account.

Johnson made 16 starts at STAR over the past two seasons, appearing in 22 games and 34 total for his career. This year he recorded 26 total tackles, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries and an interception.

Johnson made 23 tackles and a pick in 2021 after logging 15 tackles and an INT as a true freshman. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Tre’Vez Johnson makes six DB transfers

Johnson and Young gives the Gators six outing transfers from their secondary, along with Corey Collier, Avery Helm, Donovan McMillon and Kamar Wilcoxson.

Collier has committed to Nebraska, Helm is headed to TCU, McMillon made a pledge Pitt and Wilcoxson is transferring to Temple. Johnson is the first starter to leave UF.

Florida is also losing sixth-year senior Trey Dean III, while fellow starting safety Rashad Torrence II could declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
