Live Updates: The Athens Regional back on track after rainy Saturday

Jeremy Johnsonby: Jeremy Johnson05/30/26JeremyO_Johnson

Georgia is playing host to the Athens Regional beginning on Friday. Additionally, Boston College, Liberty and Long Island will be fighting to advance to a super regional next weekend to stay alive in the NCAA Tournament.

Georgia was eliminated in the Athens Regional in 2025 after an Oklahoma State walk-off home run downed the Bulldogs on Sunday last season.

The Bulldogs feel like a different group in 2026. Stars like Tre Phelps, Kolby Branch and Daniel Jackson came back to Athens to reach Omaha. The Bulldogs can taste the opportunity.

There were no expectations.

“I think the beautiful thing of this year was I really didn’t have expectations for the team, Phelps said on Monday. “It was about kind of just really going in and taking it one by one. Because when you set kind of the expectation, it’s kind of like you’re gonna feel like you’re reaching for something. It’s like we don’t need to reach for something. We’re talented, we know we’re good. So just being able to go in and win, and keep winning, and keep winning, I feel like that’s our expectation: to be able to win one game a day.”

Post-Game Press Conference Liberty vs Boston College

Both Boston College and Liberty have met with the media. Here are some of the quotes that stuck out as both settle in to watch what takes place between Georgia and Long Island later today.

Liberty Head Coach Bradley LeCroy: “First of all, what an outstanding college baseball game. Two good teams going at it. Those starting pitchers were outstanding. They both emptied the tank. He had a good plan. We knew he was going to throw strikes. We got some hits early on in the game. First hit in two runs. The rest of the time we couldn’t come up with a big hit or get a situational hit. For us to do what we did in the ninth is what this team does. We’ve come back all year. Credit to these two guys and the rest of the guys on the team.”

Liberty’s Tanner Marsh: “We’ve been one team all year round. Just building the chemistry in the locker room. Trusting within the guys. Picking the next man up has really been big for us this year.”

Boston College Julio Solier: “I try to just be calm, to be honest. I don’t really get too high, too low. I just play the game I love, to be honest. It’s weird to say, but I don’t really care what I do. I just praise God.”
