3-Star IOL Woo Spencer Sets Decision Date

This weekend Kentucky is rolling out the blue carpet for the football program’s top 2024 recruits, but their work is not yet entirely complete in 2023. National Signing Day is Wednesday and there’s still one uncommitted player on Kentucky’s big board, Woo Spencer.

Recruited by Vince Marrow, William “Woo” Spencer spent the first three years of his career at Louisville Male High School. He moved across the river and transferred to New Albany for his final year of high school. As his recruitment approaches the finish line, local schools are at the top of his list.

Spencer shared Friday afternoon that he will announce his decision near the end of National Signing Day at 6:30 pm, choosing between Kentucky, Louisville and Michigan State at Aspirations Gym. The Spartans were one of the the first schools to go all-in, but it now appears to be a two-horse race between the Cats and the Cards. This weekend he is staying home for an official visit to UofL, a week after using an official visit in Lexington. Right now it feels like a 50-50 toss-up between the in-state rivals.

Woo Spencer is a three-star recruit and a top 500 recruit according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The 6-foot-5, 315-pound interior offensive lineman is the 38th-ranked player at his position in the country.

Kentucky signed three offensive linemen in the 2023 recruiting class. Adding a fourth to the trenches with a high-ceiling in a recruiting battle against your in-state rival would be a nice finishing touch and put the Wildcats’ class on the precipice of cracking the top 30 in the rankings.
