Kaleb Lanier commits to Duke

Head coach Manny Diaz is in the process of building his first full high school recruiting class at Duke. The former Miami head coach has earned another head gig in the ACC after a strong two-year stint as Penn State’s defensive coordinator. The Blue Devils got some good recruiting news on Friday.

Decatur (Ga.) High athlete Kaleb Lanier committed to Duke on May 3 after visiting Durham three weeks ago.

Kaleb Lanier is a multi-sport athlete for Decatur playing a big role on the basketball team and competing in multiple track and field events. Kentucky was recruiting the unranked prospect as a defensive back. Lanier has made three unofficial trips to Lexington since October and was recently on campus for a spring practice. Defensive backs coach Chris Collins was running point on this recruitment for the Wildcats.

Kaleb Lanier only locked in official visits with Duke and Indiana. The class of 2025 prospect was originally looking at a summer commitment. Those plans have changed as the secondary prospect is now locked in with Duke.

Kentucky currently has six players committed in the class of 2025 after adding four-star tailback Marquise Davis last week. However, the Wildcats have zero defensive players in the class. Expect that to change soon.
