Kentucky's Nik Scalzo, Jake Pope enter the transfer portal
The first offseason dominoes have fallen. Monday morning Kentucky backup quarterback Nik Scalzo and reserve offensive lineman Jake Pope entered their names into the transfer portal. The moves was first reported by Rivals and Derek Terry, respectively, and confirmed by On3 Sports.
Scalzo suffered multiple knee injuries over the last four years, but he was able to play his was back onto the field for a few snaps in last week’s win over New Mexico State. Pope, a redshirt sophomore offensive tackle, did not play during his three seasons in Lexington.

This is not Scalzo’s first foray into the portal. Last season he briefly dipped his toes into the transfer portal before ultimately deciding to return to UK.
Both players were three-star prospects in the class of 2019 recruited by Eddie Gran from Ft. Lauderdale. Eight players have entered the transfer portal from Kentucky’s 2019 recruiting class.
