The Las Vegas Raiders sign Marquan "Bully" McCall

Las Vegas giveth and it taketh away. In my experience, it is more the latter, but on Friday, it delivered some early Christmas cheer to Marquan “Bully” McCall. The Raiders signed the former Kentucky defensive lineman to their practice squad, who was until recently, a free agent.

McCall played 16 games last season for the Carolina Panthers after going undrafted. There, he totaled 15 tackles, including two tackles for loss as a rookie. NFL insider, Jordan Schultz, described McCall as a 24-year-old massive space-eating nose [guard] with good feet and heavy hands.

Sources say this is absolutely correct.

McCall played in 31 games across four seasons in Lexington in his time as a Wildcat. Throughout his career, he recorded 57 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

The New England Patriots picked up McCall the day after the Panthers cut him, but he failed his physical and ultimately became a free agent.

McCall is eligible to make his Las Vegas debut on Christmas Day when the Raiders take on the Kansas City Chiefs from Arrowhead, though he will likely remain on the practice squad. The Raiders are 6-8 and have struggled this season, losing starting quarterbacks and head coaches alike, however, this will provide an excellent résumé builder going into next season, and even give him a chance to return to Las Vegas as a reserve/future signing in January.
