Tyrell Ajian will return to Kentucky for Super Senior season
Kentucky will keep some experience in the secondary for the 2022 season. Tyrell Ajian announced Saturday afternoon that he will return for a sixth season as a Super Senior for the Wildcats.
“I have decided to come back for one more year,” he Tweeted. “Returning will allow me to grow more on and off the field. There are also goals I want to achieve for myself and for the team.”
Ajian has been a staple in the secondary for the last two seasons, starting at strong safety in 21 of the previous 24 games. This year he finished sixth on the team in tackles with 46 and recorded four pass break-ups.

He has recorded one interception in each of his four seasons of action. This year’s interception happened at the perfect time. Sleep-walking through a sloppy performance against FCS Chattanooga, Ajian’s 95-yard Pick Six clinched the victory.
Ajian’s announcement is a positive development for the otherwise inexperienced defensive backs. It’s also a reflection on Kentucky’s culture. Yusuf Corker, Josh Paschal and Marquan McCall are the only players leaving Brad White’s defense that finished ranked 26th nationally in points per game allowed.
Fresh off another ten-win season in Lexington, Mark Stoops has created staying power at Kentucky.
