Former LSU corner Kristian Fulton agrees to deal with Kansas City Chiefs

A member of LSU’s most recent national championship team appears headed to the NFL’s most consistent title contender in recent years.

Kristian Fulton will reportedly join the perennial power Kansas City Chiefs this offseason.

The former LSU cornerback has agreed to a two-year, $20-million deal, including $15 million fully guaranteed, according to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fulton spent this past season with the Los Angeles Chargers after the first four years of his professional career with the Tennessee Titans, who drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The member of the Tigers’ 2019 national championship team has played 56 career NFL regular-season games with 201 tackles, five interceptions, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

This season was arguably his best, including career highs in games played (15), starts (14) and tackles (51), an interception, a career-best grade from Pro Football Focus and his first playoff appearance since 2021.

He joins a Kansas City franchise fresh off its third straight Super Bowl appearance and fifth in six years, including championships following the 2020, 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Fulton joins a cornerback room that currently returns its top trio of Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson and Chamarri Conner, but sees Nazeeh Johnson hit restricted free agency.

Former Dutchtown star Justin Reid, the younger brother for former LSU safety Eric Reid, was a leader in the Kansas City secondary this season at safety, but is a free agent.

The Chiefs haven’t had a former Tigers player on their roster since December when they released running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who then signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Free agency officially opens at 3 p.m. Wednesday, but teams and players have been able to begin discussing deals this week as part of the league’s “legal tampering period.”
