EAST LANSING, Mich. - Apparently, Michigan State guard Sara Sambolic knew some things we don’t. After Michigan State’s surprising 86-70 upset home loss to then-No. 22 Maryland back on Feb. 4, Sambolic (5-foot-7, Ljubljana, Slovenia) - who is in her first season in East Lansing and was awarded junior eligibility - could be found in the auxiliary gym at Breslin Center getting up shots after the game. Sambolic, who has played in 19 games this season, admitted she was angry after the loss to Maryland and felt she wasn’t ready enough when her number was called to help her team against the Terrapins. And she wanted to be ready the next time head coach Robyn Fralick called upon her. She got her chance.  After teammate and junior guard Rashunda "Spider" Jones went down with a lower body injury in Michigan State’s 86-65 loss at Michigan on Feb. 15, the Spartans were going to need more minutes and contributions from Sambolic in the backcourt.
