Former Oregon Ducks Bryson Young, Gus Cumberlander selected in USFL Draft
The recently re-launched USFL held its inaugural draft on Tuesday, and two players with Oregon ties were selected.
Former Duck defensive ends Bryson Young and Gus Cumberlander were both picked relatively early in the draft. The New Jersey Generals selected Young with the fifth pick of the second round, while the Philadelphia Stars selected Cumberlander with the third pick of the third round.
Young played at Oregon from 2015-19 and started 13 games as a senior while racking up 56 tackles and two sacks.

Cumberlander also was part of the Oregon program from 2015-19. He started five games as a senior and was the Pac-12 defensive linemen of the week in Week 4 before suffering a season-ending injury. As a junior in 2018, he tallied four sacks.
The USFL is scheduled to begin its 12-game season on April 16. It features eight teams and will feature a handful of high-profile coaches. Jeff Fisher, Mike Riley, Larry Fedora, Kevin Sumlin, and Skip Holtz are all currently at the helm of franchises.
Former Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson was the No. 1 overall pick in Tuesday’s draft.
