SMU Basketball lands in-state point guard Cam Lomax
SMU Basketball landed its first commitment in 2026 point guard Cameron Lomax, who wrapped up an official visit on Sunday. The 6-1, 165-pound guard held an offer from Andy Enfield & Co. since November 2024 and now becomes the first commit in 2026.
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Lomax is the No. 141 overall prospect, No. 25 point guard and No. 10 prospect in Texas.
Lomax was a huge target out of Frisco (Tex.) Heritage Hall and originally from McKinney, Texas. He also holds offers from LSU, Xavier, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and others. He’s made numerous trips across the country.
Lomax previously visited Xavier, Houston and Oklahoma State. He was set to visit LSU, Arizona State and Oklahoma in the coming weeks. SMU’s been on him even harder since his strong showing at Peach Jam this summer.

“I took a big step showing coaches and people that I can pass and also that I can score,” Lomax told ZAGSBLOG. “And just besides that, being an on-ball defender. That’s probably one of the best assets of my game: defending.”
“Earlier this year it all skyrocketed,” Lomax said this summer of his recruitment. “I went from zero offers to ten. It’s been great and I have a lot more colleges talking to me as the AAU season goes on. I built a lot of good relationships with a lot of colleges.”
With Lomax, SMU landed its first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, which is trying to build off a strong 2025 class.
