South Carolina OL target J.B. Shabazz drops final 3

Four-star offensive tackle J.B. Shabazz announced his final three schools on Saturday afternoon and South Carolina made the cut.

The Gamecocks, Tennessee, and Ohio State are the three programs left standing for the Winston-Salem (N.C.) East Forsyth class of 2026 four-star prospect.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pounder does not currently have a set date for his commitment but, like many prospects around the country, is expected to announce his decision this month.

Shabazz trimmed his contenders to those three from an offer list that also featured dozens others including Penn State and N.C. State, which also received official visits, and North Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia, among others.

Shabazz took his official visit to South Carolina on the first weekend of June.

“It was all nice. They were all great here,” he told GamecockCentral. “Got to go to Coach Beamer’s house, talk to the guys, to the coaches, some of the players. We had fun, good fun, shot some basketball, got some ice cream.”

Gamecocks offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley and recruiting assistant Sam Serbay have served as his primary recruiters during the process.

The four-star prospect is ranked the No. 352 overall prospect and No. 27 offensive tackle in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of the major recruiting media sites.

On3 is mucher higher on Shabazz, ranking him the No. 56 overall and No. 6 OT in the cycle.
