3-Star Texas RB DeAnthony Gatson Decommits From USC
After another game struggling to run the ball vs Washington St. in a 45-14 victory in Pullman, three-star Newton (TX) RB DeAnthony Gatson announced his decommitment from USC on Monday.
The Trojans had gained momentum with recruiting after announcing Donte Williams was taking over for Clay Helton as interim head coach, but USC’s struggles with running ball have somewhat carried over from last season.
Newton chose USC over Texas and actually surprised the Longhorn staff with his verbal pledge to the Trojans. Texas then got a commitment from Jamarion Miller a week later.

USC is still heavily pursuing Las Vegas RB Jovantae Barnes and Mater Dei ATH Raleek Brown. Brown is expected to take a second official visit to USC later this year and Barnes is undecided on whether he’ll visit at all.
The Trojans hope to sign at least one prep running back and if they can’t lure another, they’ll hit the Transfer Portal.
