2023 Draft · Rnd 2 · Pick 44Aamaury Fountain reminds us of Julius Brents as a prospect. Like Brents, Fountain is a tall, high-cut cornerback with considerable length for the position. Fountain was more well-known as a national prospect coming out of high school, while Brents signed with Iowa as a safety before becoming in a cornerback in junior college and at Kansas State. Brents was not the fastest prospect coming out of high school, but added athleticism while in college. We could see Fountain taking a similar developmental track.

Big-framed cornerback with length, coordination, and coverage instincts. Has unverified size, but listed at around 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. Has considerable length for the position. Uses his big frame and long arms to disrupt wide receivers off the line when working in press coverage. Able to reroute pass-catchers with ease. Shows smooth movement skills with the ability to flip his hips and redirect in coverage, especially for a bigger cornerback. Shows quality natural instincts when reading routes and breaking on the football. Able to track and locate the ball. Physical as a run defender. Also worked at wide receiver some as a junior. Does not have any verified athletic markers and pure top end speed remains a question. Also older for the cycle, turning 19 years old in February of his junior year. Size and instincts make him an intriguing corner prospect with some remaining questions to be answered. Has the upside to develop into one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2027 cycle.
