Personal Life

Adama Sanogo arrived at UConn in the Class of 2020 as a four-star recruit from Centereach (New York) The Patrick School. Sanogo is originally from Mali, and he grew up playing soccer until he picked up basketball in 2014. Sanogo came to the United States to play at Our Savior New American School in New York but transferred to The Patrick School after a coaching change. He made an instant impact at UConn, playing in all 23 games as a true freshman and averaging 7.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and leading the team with a 55% field goal percentage. Sanogo went on to lead the Big East in rebounding as a sophomore and was a first-team all-league pick. After the 2022-2023 season, Sanogo was named one of five finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year award. He also sparked the Huskies to the Sweet 16 by leading the team in scoring, rebounding and shooting percentage.
