Personal Life

Amari Avery has been well known by the golf community ever since she was one of eight golfers featured in “The Short Game,” a 2013 Netflix documentary. She started golf lessons at 4-years-old and arrived at USC with a lengthy resume of success during her amateur career. That success includes playing in the 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur and at the 2021 Women’s U.S. Open. She also received medalist honors at the 2019 California Women’s Amateur, a 3-0 record playing for the 2021 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup team and playing in the 2021 LPGA Founder’s Cup. At USC, Avery was a WGCA and Golfweek All-America first-team selection and a 2022 All-Pac-12 Conference first-team pick. Avery joined the team as a spring semester enrollee and started all nine spring events, winning three times (including at NCAA Regionals) while also posting a tie for second, a tie for fifth, a tie for sixth and a tie for eighth, good for seven top 10 finishes overall. That was tied for sixth on USC’s all-time season list, two off the record shared by LPGA stars Lizette Salas, Jennifer Song and Candie Kung. Avery has a strong social media presence, including more than 21,400 followers on Instagram. She officially joined the Nike Golf family in June of 2022. She has also executed a NIL deal with Bank of America.
