Ashton Bethel-Roman Scouting Summary
Charles Power
05/26/23

Highly fluid receiver with the athletic upside to develop into a deep threat and dangerous route-runner. Measured at over 6-feet and around 165 pounds in the spring prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position with 33-inch arms. Registers as a strong athlete in the combine setting, running an electronically-timed 4.67 second 40-yard dash at Under Armour’s Dallas camp. Posted phenomenal agility marks with a 4.09 second shuttle and 6.97 second 3-cone. Also a strong track athlete with a 21.51 second 200-meter time and 23-3 foot long jump to his name. Parlays that athleticism onto the field, where he is a natural, easy mover. Shows effortless burst and initial quickness. Has a pure long stride that quickly eats up opposing cornerbacks’ cushions. Looks like a vertical threat at the next level with his ability to separate downfield. Shows a high level of movement coordination and fluidity that points to upside as a route-runner. More comfortable as a ball tracker as a pass-catcher at this point. Finished his junior season with 37 catches for 892 yards (24.1 yards per catch) and eight touchdowns. Allows the ball to get into his body and needs to refine his catching technique in some situations in order to maximize his plus length and expand his potential catch radius. Will need to add mass and strength in order to better deal with contact at the next level. Has a strong athletic pedigree with his father Mark Roman being a second round pick in the NFL Draft out of LSU and his mother Ashley Bethel-Roman running track for the Tigers.
