Ashton Gillotte is known just as much for his long hair as he is for his tenacious brand of football. In fact, Gillotte said his hair is all a part of his branding to be the wildest on the field. “I just try to play as tenaciously as I can,” Gillotte said. “I try to be around the ball as much as I can, try to harass quarterbacks. Obviously, my hair comes out of the back of the helmet, that’s kind of where the hair and the whole wildman thing come from.” During the 2023 season, Gillotte led Louisville in sacks (11) and tackles for loss (14 ½), ending the year with 45 tackles. His 0.79 sacks per game ranked 10th in the country, which helped him earn first-team All-ACC and second-team All-America honors. “I just try to give my best effort every play,” Gillotte said. “Try to be around the ball, be disruptive, do what I can for my teammates.”
