Ben Hanks III Scouting Summary
Charles Power
02/03/25

Ball-hawking corner who is one of the more instinctive cover men in the 2025 cycle. Measured in at around 6-foot-1, 170 pounds with 31.5-inch arms as a senior. Registers as a strong athlete with good straight-line speed in the combine setting. A two-player on Friday nights, lining up at corner and wide receiver. Came down with an eye-popping 13 interceptions in 12 games as a senior. Showed elite coverage instincts, effortlessly tracking and locating passes and breaking to make plays on the ball. Shows the ability to mirror receivers and effectively read routes. Rarely finds himself out-of-phase. Has loose lower body movements and good ankle flexion. Has a long stride in the open field. Also shows his advanced ball skills as a receiver on offense. Turned in a strong week of coverage at the Navy All-American Bowl following his senior season. On the thinner side, he will need to add mass to his frame to hold up from a physical perspective. Has a high upside given his cover ability and plus ball skills.

Personal Life

Ben Hanks Jr. knows what it takes to play at the highest level. All he has to do is search for some clips of his father – Ben Hanks Sr. – during his time in the NFL and with the Florida Gators. "My dad was a winner and accomplished so much during his playing career," Hanks said about his father, a former All-SEC linebacker who won three league titles under Steve Spurrier in the 1990s. "But he also knows that everything can change in a minute, because he only played a few seasons in the NFL. He's taught me to stay focused and never give up on my dreams." In his first two seasons at the varsity level at Miami Booker T. Washington, Hanks produced 35 tackles, five interceptions, eight pass breakups and three fumble recoveries.
