Brenan Vernon Scouting Summary
Cody Bellaire
07/18/22

Run-stopping defensive lineman who plays with a relentless effort level. Emerged on the recruiting scene early in his high school career. Has filled out considerably heading into his senior season, checking in at around 6-foot-4.5, 280 pounds. Began as a defensive end/EDGE prospect and has grown into a potential nose tackle. Tough and physical at the point of attack. Does not give up on plays and mops up tackles for loss in pursuit. Strong edge setter. Lacks ideal length for a defensive line prospect. Has dealt with injuries throughout his high school career including a broken foot and labrum injury. Also plays basketball.

Personal Life

Mentor coach Matt Gray knew in middle school that Brenan Vernon was head and shoulders above everybody else. “I think the No. 1 thing that jumped out about him was just the sheer physical size,” Gray told 247Sports. “I mean, he was always a foot-plus taller than everybody else. It was always funny to kind of watch him play middle school football because you get those little runts that are playing seventh and eighth-grade football. And then you had Brenan out there. Being able to see him grow and develop, he's had a tough spot just because he's always been that big kid that always gains attention. He's always been in that spotlight. And just being able to see some of the maturation processes is quite intriguing and exciting here over the next several months to be able to see that.” Vernon earned his first college scholarship before he played a down of varsity football. Away from football, Vernon enjoys playing the guitar.
