Brian Branch was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit coming out of Tyrone (Georgia) Sandy Creek High School in the Class of 2020. He also ranked as the No. 71 recruit in the country overall. Branch picked the Crimson Tide over Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Branch finished his career at Sandy Creek as the program's career interceptions leader. Entering the 2022 season, Branch was recognized with preseason All-America honors by Pro Football Focus. In 2021, Branch totaled 55 tackles, including five for a loss and a team-high nine pass breakups to go with one quarterback hurry and one fumble recovery. In 2020, he saw time in 12 games with three starts. He was recognized as defensive player of the week for his efforts against Mississippi State. Branch had seven tackles, a tackle for a loss and two pass breakups in that game.
