Personal Life

Bryce Young was one of the most decorated high school quarterbacks coming out of Southern California in the last 25 years. He was ranked as the nation’s top-ranked quarterback by all major media outlets in the 2020 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 3 overall player, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Young was selected to play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned offensive MVP honors and was named the All-American Bowl player of the year. He was also selected as the 2019 high school quarterback of the year by the National Quarterback Club, and the Maxwell offensive player of the year. Young was the Trinity League most valuable player after leading Mater Dei to the state championship game in 2019 and finishing second nationally in the high school rankings. Young was coached in high school by Bruce Rollison, who has led the Mater Dei program to 14 CIF finals, seven CIF championships and high school national titles in 1994, 1996, 2017 and 2018. Young’s parents are Julie and Craig Young. His parents moved their entire lives for Young to play his final two high school seasons at Mater Dei.
