Bucky Irving was the No. 6 player in Illinois' 2021 recruiting class, and he originally signed with Minnesota out of Hillcrest High School. During his freshman season with the Gophers, he finished second on the team with 699 yards and four touchdowns. He also led the Gophers with 966 all-purpose yards. After the 2021 season, he transferred to Oregon. As a sophomore for the Ducks, he led the team with 1,058 yards on 156 carries and five touchdowns. He continued to be one of college football's top running backs in the 2023 season, including 100-plus yard performances against Washington, Washington State and USC.
