Personal Life

A former On3 Consensus four-star recruit, Cam Smith arrived at South Carolina in the 2019 recruiting class out of Blythewood (South Carolina) Westwood High School. He picked the Gamecocks over offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, Purdue and numerous others. After seeing action in the 2020 and 2019 seasons, he emerged as one of the SEC’s top defenders in the 2021 season. Smith was a third-team All-SEC pick by the Associated Press and a fourth-team pick by Phil Steele. Smith also earned second-team All-SEC and Honorable Mention All-America honors from Pro Football Focus. Smith allowed multiple catches in just two of 11 games and only 15 catches on 32 targets the entire season. He also tied for sixth on the team with 41 tackles, including 31 solo stops. Smith entered the 2022 season as an All-America candidate. He is majoring in experimental psychology.
