Chad Muma was a three-star recruit out of Parker (Colo.) Legend. But because of a patella injury his junior season, his recruiting didn’t take off. As a senior, he was named to the 2017 Denver Post All-Colorado football team. He played in 12 games as a freshman in 2018, mostly on special teams. He was a backup linebacker as a sophomore but did make two starts. His COVID-shortened junior year was his first time to be a full-time starter and he made the most of it, finishing sixth in the nation in tackles per game. Muma has Type 1 diabetes, having been diagnosed at 13. His father, Ty Muma, played for Wyoming from 1990-1991, as did his grandfather, Rick Desmarais. Muma is majoring in mechanical engineering at Wyoming.
