Chris Olave had a unique journey from underrated recruit to All-American wideout. He attended Chula Vista (Calif.) Eastlake for his first two years of high school. He transferred with his brother Josh to San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills because they were not living up to the academic standards set by their parents. But the California Interscholastic Federation ruled them ineligible for the 2016 season. But he burst out during the 2017 season with 93 passes for a San Diego Section-record 1,764 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was a solid role player as a freshman before earning a starting role in 2019. He was third team All-Big Ten as a sophomore and first team All-Big Ten as a junior. He is the son of LaCausha and Raul Olave. He is the younger brother of Isiah and Josh. Isiah Olave was a cornerback at UC Davis from 2014-2018 and was third team All-Big Sky as a senior. Josh Olave was a cornerback at DII Azusa Pacific before transferring to Weber State. He is majoring in consumer and family financial services.
