Personal Life

Dee Winters was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit coming out of Burton, Texas, in the Class of 2019. He picked TCU over offers from Arkansas, Arizona State, Northwestern, Texas Teach and others. After playing in 11 games as a freshman, Winters placed second on the team in tackles during his 2020 sophomore campaign. He started all 12 games for TCU in 2021 and led TCU with 74 tackles and was third with 5 tackles for a loss. Winters had a monster 2022 season, improving all of his stats and earning first-team All-Big 12 honors. Winters also had one of the most significant plays in the Horned Frogs’ victory over Michigan in the College Football Playoffs. He intercepted Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy and returned it for a touchdown in the third quarter of the Fiesta Bowl. “He’s obviously a great athlete, he can run and he’s got good size,” TCU coach Sonny Dykes said. “But I think for him, his instincts are what make him special.”
