Reminds Us Of

Ferguson was just north of 200 pounds and playing split out a lot when we first saw him as a high school junior. He was skinny but won a lot of 50-50 balls and also played basketball. At Wisconsin, he added weight but played standing up a good amount and we could see Mikkelsen being deployed similarly come college.

Scouting Report
Plays as a big split end in high school. Outstanding ball skills and ability to make contested catches — this is both in 50-50 situations but also on routes over the middle where he is running into traffic. Plays basketball and runs track and that athleticism and body control translates to the football field. Shows some ability after the catch to make defenders miss and pull away. Has to keep working on his route running and will need to add weight to move towards tight end in college but we view him as best suited for a flex or Y-TE type role that would have him split at times and in the slot at times.
