Dwight McGlothern signed with LSU coming out of Spring (Texas) Klein Oak High School in the 2020 recruiting class. He was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit at the time, picking the Tigers over Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M. He came on strong late in the 2020 season at LSU, recording four tackles and a pass breakup in a win over Ole Miss. Then in 2021, McGlothern started six games for the Tigers, registering 32 tackles, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, one interception and a touchdown. After the 2021 season, McGlothern transferred to Arkansas. He immediately made an impact for the Razorbacks, racking up seven tackles, two pass deflections and one interception in a 31-24 victory over Cincinnati in the first game of the 2022 season.
