Personal Life

A former On3 Consensus five-star recruit coming out of Hoover (Ala.) High School, George Pickens has racked up more than 1,200 yards receiving during his first three seasons at UGA. Pickens missed most of his junior season because of an ACL injury that he suffered in March of 2021. The Georgia coaches believe Pickens is an impact player that will have a breakout 2022 season. “He’s basically missed the last two springs when you think about a young player’s development, and then he missed a couple of games the year before,” offensive coordinator Todd Monken said. “So, he’s still a young developing player, and we’re still trying to work him in and to make sure that he can help us offensively and most importantly help us win with what he can do at this point.” Pickens’ younger brother, Chris Humes, played collegiately at Arkansas State and is currently on the CFL’s Winnipeg Bombers roster. Pickens is majoring in housing management & policy. He is the recipient of the A.J. Green Family Football Scholarship.
