Jacob Cowing walked off the field on Nov. 16, 2019, at UAB having made a team-high five catches and 85 yards. Two flights later, he was in Arizona holding his newborn son, Chase Henry Cowing, in his arms. Cowing transferred from UTEP to Arizona after the 2021 season in order to be closer to his son. Chase is named after former Arizona State defensive back and current Chase Lucas. “He was crazy fast, and I kind of wanted to name (my son) after him, and I’ve always liked the name Chase growing up. I always told my parents if I ever have a son, I’m naming him Chase,” Cowing told the Arizona Daily Star. At UTEP, Cowing was All-Conference USA second team in 2020 and All-Conference USA first team in 2021. He is the son of Monte Cowing and Nycole Parker.
