Personal Life

Before transferring to Alabama for the 2022 season, Jahmyr Gibbs signed with Georgia Tech as a four-star recruit coming out of Dalton (Ga.) High School. He immediately impressed Alabama coach Nick Saban, even before he played a down of football with the Crimson Tide. “Very fast. Very explosive guy. Has really good hands,” Saban said. “He actually practiced with us before the national championship game. We’re excited about the speed and explosiveness. He’s a really good receiver. I think he can do a lot of positive things for us.” As a second-year freshman, Gibbs rushed for 746 yards and four touchdowns in the 2021 season at Georgia Tech, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. Meanwhile, he was a frequent contributor in the receiving game, reeling in 35 catches for 465 yards and two more touchdowns. He finished the regular season ranked third in the FBS in all-purpose yards with 150.4 per game. It’s similar to what he did while he was in high school. He capped his prep career in the All-American Bowl following a senior campaign where he rushed for 2,554 yards and 40 touchdowns for Dalton.
