Javion Hilson Scouting Summary
Charles Power
02/04/25

Dynamic speed rusher who makes plays in the backfield at a high rate. Measured at 6-foot-3.5 and around 225 pounds prior to his junior season. Touts good length for the position. Flashes high-end speed in combine settings and track and field where he posted an impressive 11.29 second mark in the 100 meters as a sophomore. Transfers that athleticism onto the field, where he wins with pure speed off the snap. Shows good first-step quickness and darts into the backfield. Gives offensive tackles trouble with his quickness. Closes quickly as a finisher. Plays with a high effort level, using his play speed to track down plays in pursuit from sideline to sideline. Productive for one of Florida’s top talent-producing programs as a sophomore. Needs to add more pass rush moves to his arsenal as he is primarily winning with speed and effort at this stage.

Personal Life

Cocoa coach Ryan Schneider told Steve Wiltfong that Javion Hilson's is a complete package. “He’s blessed to have God-given ability," Schneider said. “The thing that makes him great is his work ethic and drive to be the best player he can be. His work ethic and drive are some of the best I’ve ever seen in a high school football player. He’s the type of kid we have to kick out of the weight room and off the practice field. He wants to keep working." The tangibles are equally as strong as those intangibles. “His athleticism, his toughness too,” Schneider said. “He’s not just a pass rusher, pretty boy defensive end. He’ll stick his nose in there and take on power, take on counter and do his job filling it.”
