Scouting Report
Taylor has an impressive frame. great length and very projectable. He has some explosive pop in there too. Taylor can shoot the ball with range beyond the three-point arc. He can fall too in love with that three-ball at times as well. Shot selection and decision-making can be an issue in the half-court. He is great in transition, covers a lot of ground with his strides, and can get high above the rim. As the game gets fast and he is getting up and down and reacting, he is a force. Needs to develop his handle in the half-court, and too many times he settles for jumpers instead of using his physical tools to attack the rim. There is upside on the defensive end, which will only enhance as he continues to add strength. We keep using the word, upside, as that is very clear in Taylor's game. It is just a matter of turning that potential into production for the four-star wing.

Personal Life
Following Donda Academy’s shuttering after antisemitic remarks made by Kanye West, JJ Taylor enrolled for his senior season at San Ysidro High School in San Diego. He played his junior season at Donda Academy. Taylor averaged 28.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game as a sophomore at Kenwood Academy. Even with the lofty numbers, he's still working on getting better. “I’m just working on my post moves because I’m going to need that when I have a guard on me,” he told SLAM.
