Kanaan Carlyle Scouting Summary
Jamie Shaw
01/30/22

Kanaan Carlyle is a confident and bouncy guard. Is tough-minded on-ball defender, competitive and in the passing lanes. Carlyle is a shoot first, shoot second type guard, looking to get to his shot and he is in range from 30+ feet and in. Can be a ball stopper and needs to work on the shot selection. The handle is tight within 2-3 dribbles. How well does he see the floor? He is capabale of big numbers as he only needs a glimmer of light.

Personal Life

Kanaan Carlyle grabbed headlines on and off the court while in high school. Off the court, he became one of the first high-level prospects to sign with Overtime Elite. Carlyle signed a scholarship agreement that will not pay him any salary, thus preserving his college eligibility. Carlyle had a big summer in 2022. He won a gold medal playing on Team USA FIBA U18 Americas Championship in Tijuana, Mexico. He averaged 4 points, 1.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1 steal in the tournament while shooting 36% from the field. Carlyle was also the leading scorer at Nike’s EYBL throughout most of the summer.
