Kool-Aid McKinstry has more than a cool name. He’s also a heck of a talented football player. Coming out of Pinson (Alabama) Pinson Valley High School in the 2021 class, McKinstry was an On3 Consensus five-star recruit. He picked the Crimson Tide over Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Oregon and a long list of national offers. McKinstry made an immediate impact at Alabama. He was selected to the Freshman All-SEC Team after racking up 25 tackles, a tackle for a loss, an interception and a pass breakup across the 15-game season. In 2022, McKinstry earned first-team All-America honors from Pro Football Focus at cornerback. He was named a second-team All-American at corner by the AFCA and The Sporting News. Plus, he was also a second-team corner by CBS Sports and a third-team honoree on defense according to the Associated Press.
