Personal Life

Lamont Butler was ranked as a three-star recruit coming out of Riverside (California) Poly High School in the 2020 recruiting class. He signed with San Diego State over Weber State, UC Santa Barbara, Colorado, St. Mary’s and UC Riverside after helping Poly reach the CIF championship game twice in his career. As a freshman, Butler appeared in 28 games for the Aztecs, averaging 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds. Then in the 2021-2022 season, Butler was named to the Mountain West All-Defensive team after averaging 7.3 points and 2.1 rebounds and racking up 57 assists and 46 steals. Butler had a memorable 2022-2023 season, helping SDSU reach the Final Four. During the regional final against Creighton, he made eight of 11 shots and both of his triples to carry the load for the Aztecs against the Blue Jays. He was named to the South All-Region Team for his success. Butler has been active on the NIL front, too. He signed with Intrusive Sports Agency to represent him in NIL dealings. Plus, he’s promoted JLab, Daps and the San Diego Legion through NIL partnerships.
