Personal Life

As a senior, Marcus Sasser won the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year award and was Houston’s first first-team All-American since Hakeem Olajuwon. In the 2021-2022 season, Sasser was Houston’s leading scorer with 17.7 points per game, but he suffered a season-ending foot injury that sidelined him in late December. As a sophomore, Sasser finished second on the team and ninth in the AAC with 13.7 points per game. Sasser is originally from Red Oak, Texas, where he played for his uncle, Jason Sasser – who was the 1996 Southwest Conference Player of the Year. Sasser was also a first-team Class 5A selection during his senior season of high school.
