Personal Life

Michael Penix Jr. transferred to Washington ahead of the 2022 season after playing in 20 games at Indiana. Penix made an instant impact in Seattle, where he was named third-team All-American, second-team All-Pac-12 and was a Manning Award and Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist. Penix finished 2022 as the No. 1 passer in FBS with 357 yards per game and was second overall with 4,641 passing yards. He was also No. 1 in FBS in total offense and third in completions per game. Those totals helped him also be named the AP's Comeback Player of the Year. Ahead of the 2023 season, Penix was named a preseason All-American and second-team all-league pick. While at Indiana, he was named twice as the team captain, while going 12-5 as the starting quarterback. Over four years, he completed 342-of-576 passes for 4,197 yards, 29 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Coming out of Tampa (Florida) Tampa Bay Tech, he was ranked as a three-star recruit. He also played baseball and ran track in high school.
