Nick Hampton was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit coming out of Anderson (South Carolina) Westside High School in 20218. He picked Appalachian State over Middle Tennessee State, Troy, Georgia State and Miami of Ohio. He entered the 2022 season as one of the top returning EDGE rushers in college football. Coming into the 2022 season, he was first among returning Sun Belt players with 19.5 sacks and second among returning players in the league with 30.5 tackles for a loss. Hampton is one of only five players nationally in 2021 with more than 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 65 tackles. With nearly 40 pounds of added weight since entering college, Hampton was named to The Athletic’s “Freaks List” with an incline press of 365 pounds, sumo deadlift of 600 pounds, broad jump of 10-6, a vertical jump of 39 inches and a top sprint speed of 21 mph. His parents are Stanley and Mohema Hampton.
