Personal Life

Roger McCreary’s recruitment, and later his college career, could be characterized as a slow burn. He committed to South Alabama before his senior year at Mobile (Ala.) Williamson. But after a standout season where he had eight interceptions and 100 tackles — plus 2,100 yards of offense — he received an offer from Auburn. He decommitted from South Alabama and then committed to Auburn a month later. He played in two games as a freshman and then had 11 pass breakups in 2019. McCreary finally won a starting role as a junior. He had three interceptions and nine passes defended. He considered leaving for the draft after his junior season but decided to return to school to improve his stock or get his degree. He is the son of Felicia James. He is studying in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn.
